Dr. Meghpara uses the miLOOP to safely divide a mature cataract. First, the capsule is stained with trypan. Next, viscoelastic is injected under the capsulorrhexis to create space for the loop. The loop is rotated under the lens to break capsular adhesions then retracted to split the lens in half. A second instrument provides counter-traction to keep the lens in the capsular bag and prevent the loop from getting stuck. The lens can be turned and split again to create quadrants. Finally, the fragments can be emulsified with a high-density setting.
