Dr. Shields manages uveal melanoma, retinoblastoma, and numerous other ocular and orbital tumors from the United States and abroad. She has authored or coauthored 12 textbooks, over 1,400 articles in major journals, and over 300 textbook chapters. She has received numerous awards, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology Life Achievement Honor Award (2011).
